The first time you watched Friends, you were probably just laughing at Chandler’s sarcasm and Ross screaming “We were on a break!”. But if you rewatch it now, knowing how it all ends, there’s a creepy feeling that the show was telling us the finale years in advance—we just didn’t notice.
From lobsters to infertility jokes, from throwaway lines to blink-and-you-miss-it moments, Friends is full of “prophetic details” that secretly point to the ending: Ross and Rachel reunited, Monica and Chandler in the suburbs with twins, Phoebe happily married, Joey drifting toward Hollywood.

Long before Rachel gets off that plane in the 2004 finale, the show has been screaming that she and Ross are endgame. In Season 2’s “The One With the Prom Video”, Phoebe delivers one of TV’s most quoted lines, insisting that Ross is Rachel’s “lobster” – the mate she’s supposedly destined to be with for life.
